Special Programs

Students at King Elementary have the opportunity to participate in a number of special programs each year: book fairs, Read Around The World, & Sasquatch/Young Readers' Choice Superbowl.

Our book fairs help us raise money to buy new books for the library. If you'd like to volunteer at our next book fair, please contact our school Parent Organization. The book fair will usually occur in conjunction with parent/teacher conferences in November.

Read Around The World is a school-wide reading incentive program. Last year, we made passports and read around the world in 80 days!

The Sasquatch Superbowl is a reading contest for interested fourth and fifth graders. By reading a list of 12 books, fourth grade students can form teams and compete against other students in our school. Our top team then competes against other first place teams in a city-wide competition. Fifth graders typically read the 12 Sasquatch titles plus 8 Young Readers' Choice titles for a total of 20 books. Once again, our top team competes against the other elementary schools in our district!

Here is the list of **Sasquatch Books** for 2009-10.

Fourth & Fifth graders can begin reading them right away!
